Getting Ready for Building Season

Thanks to Scott for finding a replacement motor for the FP 2700.

Today from Deal Extreme I ordered:
2700 Motor 3 for $32.97
3.17 Prop Collets 5 for $3.70
Banana Plugs 10 pairs for $3.61
Free shipping, BONUS. ;( hopefully slow boat from China will go into overdrive
Remember to click on Bulkrate for the discount on the motors if you order 3

At Scott's rate of building he'll be on the Mig-35 NAMCv100!

I will building his new Mig-35v3, I'm fully confident it will be a winner.  Of course, I'll put some RTMS Mojo on  it.

  1. Hi Stephan -

Nice package of goodies you have on the way there... :) That is a good deal on the prop collets, cheaper than RC Timer and gives you a couple spares to keep at the field.

My DX motor took 17 days to get to me from China, not sure how long it was tied up in the Canadian postal service, your goodies have a little farther to travel, but hopefully it won't be too long.

Not sure about the V100, my foam supply is getting low, but I do have enough for at least a V4... :)

I'll see if I have another set of Mig29 V4 plans laying around and will start drawing out the mods on that and putting together a bit of a "what to do" list as it is an ambitious modification, the tedious part is just making sure everything gets moved as it needs to be so that the pieces still go together well.

I'm pretty excited about how it will turn out, hope to start putting the airframe together today.

I look forward to your next build as well, always lots of little nuggets of awesomeness that continue to come out of the RTMS... :)

    Cheers,

    Scott

  2. Scott,
I have been trying to modify the RCP plans but have had difficulty. Before my next build my plan is to ask Scott to resend them to me. I want to develop our own set of plans. My printing has gone up at Staples to $11! Also a waste since we don't use their KFs or elevons. I really think you will have hit the mark with your latest mods.
17 days is great! For me, at your build rate you'd have a squadron waiting on power!

    1. Hi Stephan -

Wonder why their plans are a challenge to modify? Unfortunately that is beyond my skill level at this point, dollar store pencil, ruler and calculator are where I am at now... :)

That does seem steep for plans, mine cost me about $9 a set now at a local "Mom and Pop" print shop and if I get 10 sheets done (5 sets of plans or more), the price goes down 25%. Wonder if there might be a local print shop that might give you a better deal?

I have managed to establish a pretty good relationship with this little business, I e-mail them the plans with instructions on how many copies I need of each file and within a couple hours they have them done and ready for me to pick up. They won't scale them up or down, only print them as is, but the price is good. Of course I keep the ladies at the desk in good spirits with a box of donuts every once in awhile, that probably helps the speedy service... ;)

That reminds me, I should pull the trigger on a few more DX motors myself, just to keep the stock up... :) Although this NAMCV3 Mig will eventually get the NTM as will the F15 MK2 if I ever get that built... :)

I have been in discussion with a gentleman who contacted me via PM from the RCP site discussing some of the insane speeds we have been getting out of our planes, so I have been inspired to write an article on speed to consolidate all our ideas and experiences into one post, should have that written in the next day or two.

      Cheers,

      Scott
